Mudkit twisted his ear, listening to the conversation between the two cats as he continued to show off and devoured as much food as he could. He flicked his tail with delight as he finished his meal, and smiled cruelly toward his sister.

"Isn't it about time they became apprentices?" Oceanblue questioned.

Mudkit and Foxkit both looked up immediately, a new frightening scent filling their noses and a terrible feeling rushing through their bodies.
"What's happening?" Foxkit shouted out toward Featherstar, edging closer to the nursery for safety.

"A battle? I'm going to help!" Mudkit replied instinctly, taking a shaky step forward as he attempted to show of his courage, having no idea how great and horrible this war would be.

"Mudkit!" Foxkit shrieked, her voice filled in so much terror it was hard to recognize.
"Please, Mudkit, come here, please," she began to cry as the fear of what was going to happen to her clan and her very brother swept over her and took over her emotions.

A pang of displeasure struck Mudkit when he heard his sister's voice, the agony in every word she yelped, he couldn't take it, no matter how much he wanted to prove himself he knew his sister came before any of that. He dashed over to her as quickly as he could, pushing her deeper into the den to make sure she was safe.

Mudkit watched each cat carefully, his body shaking in both fear and the urge to jump out of the den and help his clan, but for the sake of his frightened sister he resisted form doing so, standing his ground, covering the view form Foxkit to make sure she didn't see anything to upset her even more.
"It'll be ok, but I think...I think this will be a battle we will always remember," he whispered quietly to himself and partially his sister.
